Get More Traffic - Be a Review Exchange Superstar!

For those of you constantly on the lookout for fellow bloggers to do review exchanges and swap links(to increase PR ranking), you will understand how time consuming and tedious this process is. What if I tell you there is a way for you to simply submit your site to one centralized network and easily and efficiently colloborate with other bloggers on review writing? Something similar to the convenience of ReviewMe marketplace. I found this godsend website which does exactly that in the form of Reviewback.com

Conceived in May 2007, Reviewback aims to be the world’s first, free review exchange marketplace. It provide tools to quickly add your site to their network and instantly begin communicating with other bloggers and writers in your same niche and target audience. There is no limit to how many reviews you can receive: as long as you are willing to write for others, they will write for you. You are meeting like-minded fellow bloggers, remember?

Founded by Nick Mazza, his hope is to provide not only an effective way of promoting content and building links, but also of receiving honest criticism and comments from fellow writers so that you can continue to improve and develop your site/product.

Registration is free, and sign up process is a breeze. You’ll need to input some basic standard information about your blog (e.g. blog title, description, tags, relevant category, feeds url etc.) and you are ready to rock! Once those info are submitted successfully, you can start browsing the network of blogs from many different categories and start trading reviews with fellow bloggers!

Assassinate The SPAM!

Have you ever sent unsolicited email to someone but got no response from them? It could very likely had ended up in the spam folder and got trash by the receiving party unknowingly.

If your e-mail service provider does not provide a spam checker, you can head over to The Programmers Heaven SPAM analysis tool which will runs your message through SPAM checkers - Spam Assassin and Spam Bayes - to see if they might detect it as SPAM.

SpamAssassin tests emails against a large set of rules, which include checking for malformed headers, words that commonly appear in SPAM, whether the sender is on a black list and more. Each rule is assigned a score and if the email scores enough points it is considered to be SPAM. For more information, see the SpamAssassin homepage and FAQ.

SpamBayes works by looking at the each word that appears in the email and looking for an associated word score. The word score is a number associated with each word in the SPAMBayes database and ranges between 0 and 1. A score of or close to 0 implies that the email the word appears in is likely to be HAM(good, non-spam email), while a higher score, closer to 1, implies that the email the word appears in is likely to be SPAM. By looking at the scores of words in the email overall, the email can be classified as SPAM or HAM. For more information, see the SpamBayes homepage and FAQ.

To test your email, simply copy and paste the text or HTML of the message you want to send into the text box provided, enter your own email address and also the Subject title. Next Select which SPAM filters you would like to test your email against by checking on the box next to the filter name. You can select one or both.

Then click on the “Test My Email” button and you are on your way to knowing whether you have on hand an email with lots of evil spammy words which will very likely end up in the Spam mailbox, or yours is a legit friendly message from the boy/girl next door!

If you are planning to do email marketing to promote your blog and worried all your effort might be wasted by being block by spam filter, then you should seriously consider making this free web base spam checker your #1 webtool.

A Day Without Google

I bet all you creatures of habit, like me, uses Google as our default search engine. What if we stay off Google for a while and try out other alternate search engines? Can you even begin to imagine life without Google?

The folks over at AltSearcEngines are actually asking everyone to go one day (6 am - midnight), this Tuesday(June 12th), without using one of the major search engines; Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, or Ask.

Instead, try one of the alt search engines. The list of the most recent Top 100 is here. Then on Wednesday, please leave a detailed comment describing how it went, and share your experience with other readers. Some ground rules:

1. All day Tuesday, June 12th, don’t use any of the 5 major search engines.

2. Avoid Meta search engines, since most of them include the major search engines. (for this day only! Meta search engines are important; see the Great Debate Tuesday night!)

3. Likewise, the specialized vertical search engines may be too narrowly focused. (for this day only. It’s the vertical search engines that usually search the best; within their niche.)

4. Consider changing your homepage or downloading their toolbar. You can always uninstall everything and change back on Wednesday.

5. On Wednesday, leave a detailed comment under this post and share your experience with the rest of us. Which alt search engine did you chose? How would you rate the experience?

These alternative search engines have worked very hard to get our attention, with limited success, unfortunately. So please for once - just for Tuesday, support the underdogs!

Breaking News from AGLOCO!

Be sure to check the AGLOCO website on Monday morning (Tuesday if you’re in Asia) because you should be able to download the Viewbar.

“…We have made a workaround regarding the ad server problem and we will finally be launching the Viewbar. Some, but not all, of our ad networks will be connected. These networks have enough ads on them, so we are comfortable releasing the software as we continue to work on the outstanding issues that remain with the other networks. All of the preliminary Viewbar functions are there, but with the ad problems we will not be initially launching with the personalized ad targeting. We will continue to develop this capability after we have launched and when it is available the new version of the software will be incorporated into your viewbar automatically.
The Viewbar is currently available for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista and will work with IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox browsers…”

The viewbar release is surely long overdue, it has been a bumpy road, longer than expected. At last, it’s going live soon! Join AGLOCO today and be consider the pioneer batch of members.
