Eat Nuts Drink Milk Win Money

An important factor in the marketing and branding of blogs and websites is getting good domain name from the word go. Since ‘good’ is very subjective, Relevancy of the domain name with respect to the blog niche is certainly an aspect of a good domain name.

However, on this particular blog about tech news and online tips & tricks, all level-headed arguments of having relevancy of domain name gets thrown out the window. The blog in question is called NutsAndMilk.com and my first impression upon seeing the name conjured images of breakfast cereals and milk.

As indicated on its About page, Nuts & Milk is a blog on general tips and tricks related to online and offline computing. As a reader, I certainly would not associate this quirky domain name with the blog niche. As such, this will make it harder for its owner to promote and market the blog to its targeted audience. Having said that, this blog still score on other aspects in that it has a no frills blog template, is easy on the eyes and also offers a user friendly navigation experience.

Mr Nuts and Milk obviously subscribed to the idea of “a picture tells a thousand words” as every blog posts is incorporated with at least one image of the topic being discussed. The posts are kept short and to the point, it is most useful for readers who are looking for tips and tricks instead of reading on someone’s seemingly endless rants.

There are four very impressive buttons that were somewhat ‘hidden’ at the foot of the blog, which I think deserves a mention here. It is in my opinion that if these buttons were presented on the top fold of the blog, or in the sidebar, it would certainly increase CTR and have more eyeballs on those top articles.Mr Nuts & Milk is having a contest with prize money of $250. You can enter the contest just by blogging about them, like what I am doing here.
