BlogRush Redux
It’s been a few weeks since BlogRush launched version 2 of their stats system but I haven’t bother to blog about it, until now. It is pretty safe to say I am getting less and less convinced that it will send this blog any significant traffic.
The BlogRush widget was installed on this blog in mid September and I, like every BR users, was sold on their promise of it being “the fastest and easiest to instantly drive a flood of targeted readers to you blog…“. I was hoping to enjoy rush hour traffic in every way possible, unfortunately, it never quite happens here.
It certainly didn’t help that the previous BlogRush system was gamed by blogs using black hat SEO tactics to gain undeserved syndication credits. One month into the widget being launched, the BlogRush team had to go back to the drawing board, manually evaluating thousands and thousands of blogs in their network.
Being a nice guy, I’ve remained patient (which is a rare occurrence) during this downtime, hoping they will come back stronger with a revamped version. I’ll give BlogRush 2.0 another go and see how it pans out as far as traffic goes.

Your turn to talk
Do you still have the widget on your sidebar, or have you already drop it completely? What is your reasons for doing so (keeping or dropping)? Share with us your experience with the BlogRush in terms of it sending traffic to your blog. Is it worth the sidebar real estate to sign up and display the BR widget?

never used it, prolly never will, I don’t have the sidebar space and the traffic returns aren’t worth it
At the end of the day, we have to make a costs-benefits analysis and make a decision base on the return-on-investment of using the widget.
for some reason so many of these-sites are popping up lately.. I have yet to see one that can benefit all equally.
I put BlogRush on my blog because it does drive a little bit of traffic there, and because my blog is so new I can use every little bit that comes my way; however, once my blog ages and I find that the traffic from BlogRush isn’t significantly affecting my blog in a positive way, I’ll remove the widget.
I wasn’t going to place it on my blog at first because it wouldn’t fit in the sidebar; however, they have a thinner version of the widget that does fit–although I don’t know how well it would do as far as people actually looking at it to see what’s written there.
One of my main concerns from the beginning with BlogRush was the fact that I had doubts that people would actually take the time to look at the little widget to see what’s posted there. The words are kinda clumped together and generally, website visitors are too lazy to take the time to figure read text that’s all grouped together in an already bannerad-looking widget.
I’ll continue to check my stats but if after a few months it doesn’t do much for me, I’m taking it off.
