SMART Blogging Goals 2008

Photo from O Pirata

It’s that time of the year where most of us reflect back on the past year and make plans and resolutions for the New Year. Most of us recognize the importance of goal setting in our lives, our careers, and of course, our blogs. But I believe not all of us set ourselves blogging goals, I must admit I didn’t set any for this blog in 2007, at least not on paper.Along came a group writing project from Daily Blog Tipsfor setting blogging goals for 2008, and this is as good a time as any for me to set this blog some realistic and measurable goals, which I would be accountable for.

Before I set this blog some SMART goalsfor 2008, let me dream a little first. How nice it would be if I could start the New Year as the “2007 Blogger Rookie of The Year“. To achieve this goal, I need you to cast a vote for this blog. Should you want to nominate your own blog or vote for others, I’m cool with it. Serious!

Here goes Betshopboy.net 2008 Blogging goals:

Improve Blog Design & Aesthetic
This goal will be best achieved by winning a premium Wordpress theme(sponsored by Brian Gardner) in this writing project.

Posting Frequency
As much as I want to publish one post per day, my work and family commitments just do not afford me the luxury. I have been maintaining a posting frequency of 3 per week (2 on weekdays and 1 on weekend) until official opening until now, the blog’s average daily unique visitors are 40 (over a 5-month period). I target to average 100 daily unique visitors for whole year of 2008.

RSS subscribers
Notice the missing RSS counter on this blog? The current subscriber count is too low to post the counter, but I intent to change that. RSS subscriber is hovering around 40 and I target to attain 200 subscribers by December 2008.

Alexa ranking
Current Alexa ranking is 163K+ and I target to attain ranking of 100k and below by July 2008.

Google PageRank
This blog didn’t get ranked during the last PageRank update. Seeing how many blogs got Googlerized during the big G’s mood swings earlier, I cannot set realistically measurable PageRank for this blog to attain because Google’s tantrums and mood swings are really way beyond my control. I can only stick to its TOS and guidelines and hope to get ranked on the next update. A PR4 would be nice to start with.

The above are some measurable goals with specific timelines I’ve set for this blog and want to start the New Year with. With that out of the way, let’s bring out the booze and have some holiday movie treats. Enjoy!
