Lantern Fantasy 2008
Today is Mid-Autumn festival (also referred to as Mooncake Festival or Lantern festival) and celebrations abound in every neighbourhood. I chose to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and reunion with my family at the Lantern Fantast 2008 at Chinese Garden.
Probably inspired by the Beijing Olympics held earlier and also as a prelude to the F1 Grand Prix first night street race, this year’s Lantern Fantasy at Chinese Garden features the ever-lovable Hello Kitty and friends participating in various sporting races. They will all be here – Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Bad Badtz-Maru, Pom Pom Purin, Minna No Tabo, Keroppi and Cinnamoroll! Crafted by the skilful lantern craftsmen from the Szechuan province of China, on display were the traditions of Chinese lanterns with a modern twist featured in eight different races like F1 races, scooter races, tricycle races among others.
The highlight of the Lantern Fantasy 2008 sits grandly in the Stoneboat lake of the garden. 15 colorful and majestic sailsboat with Hello Kitty and friends racing in the lake.
