Yes We Can

Congratulations America! You made history and proved that change can happen and give hope to those of us in the forgotten corners of the world.

To those – to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.

– President-elect Barack Obama

Big Walk On Water

On a glorious November Sunday morning, I was among more than 20,000 fun walkers to “walk on water” and became one of the first to visit the magnificent Barrage and reservoir at Marina Bay. No, this is not some kind of mass cult ritual where we inherit evil supernatural power and threaten to take over the world. Far from it.

It is actually a fun mass-walking event, which was dubbed “Big Walk on Water”, which also marks the 20th anniversary of The New Paper, offered participants a chance to “walk on water” by crossing the dam across the Marina Channel. The views along the 5km scenic route are breathtaking – the fresh water bay, the cityscape, Esplanade, iconic hotels, Singapore Flyer, golf course, and of course, the world-class Marina Barrage.

Well, I’ve always subscribe to the idea that a picture is worth a thousand words. So join me as I retraced my journey of my “walk on water” through some photos and video of this historical event.
