Goodbye 2008 Hello 2009

We’ve reached the last day of 2008 and looking back, it’s been a scary year to say the least. Planet Earth is ailing and Mother Nature is not happy about it and showed her fury by unleashing majors natural disasters like Cyclone Nargis, the Sichuan earthquake, Hurricane Ike and Gustav, and extreme cold spell in many parts of the World.

These natural disasters were followed up by man-made ones when the financial meltdown unfolded on Wall Street and the disastrous effect quickly spread and halted the World economy.

Some high points of the year include the spectacularly organized Beijing Olympic Games and the election of the first black US President.

On this last day of 2008, one wonder what lies ahead. Going forward, perhaps we should be not be thinking of what will happen, but rather how we should respond to whatever happens.

Here’s wishing you good health and peace in the coming 2009.

My Christmas Holiday Escapade

While some parts of the world are freezing over, I spent my Christmas holidays at a tropical resort island bathe in the Equator Sun and sweating in 30 deg C heat. Despite the high humidity, it was quality family time building sandcastle, playing bubbles and frolicking in the pool with the kids. What’s more, I found some personal time to kick back on the balcony deck chair and shoot the breeze and enjoyed the marvelous sea view.

All I Want For Christmas

Not the swankest touchscreen smartphone, not the sleekest Netbook, not the latest generation gaming console, although it would be great if Santa really comes round delivering all these gifts. All I want for Christmas is something money can’t quite buy – good health.

It’s been a rough year for me as far as my health condition is concern, with more downs than ups than usual, which have caused inconveniences and disruptions to family, work and my blogging endeavor.

So yes, all I want for Christmas is my good health back. What’s on your Christmas wish list?

Singapore Flyer Grounded

A major power disruption on the world’s largest observation wheel, the Singapore Flyer, left 173 passengers stranded for about six hours on Tuesday.

The wheel stopped spinning at about 4.50pm after a short circuit in one of the wheel’s motor drivers cut its power supply. It started moving again at about 11.10pm and all trapped passengers were able to leave their capsules, thus ended their harrowing ordeal.

The Singapore Flyer will not be taking flight to greater heights anytime soon as it will remain closed till after the new year for investigations.
