TMBT 2013 Series: Taking Flight

While trail LSD and doing hill repeats are necessary trainings for an ultra-trail marathon, I believe stairs climbing is also an essential part of strength training where mountain running is concern.

With the super long weekend courtesy of Hari Raya and National Day, many people took flight to neighboring countries for their weekend getaway. I also took flight, albeit of a different kind. With my training companion of 2 x 2kg dumbells and a fully filled 1.5 litre water bottle, I took to the flight of stairs in my apartment block for some stairs training.

This is one flight of stairs. I climbed 32 flights up and walked down again, repeated 7 sets. By the third sets, I was perspiring like crazy. It was a really tough workout, but it felt good!
