Three days ago, the hopes of a nation were raised when the Singapore under-15 football boys defeated Montenegro 3-2 to top its group and made the semi-finals. On day 8 of YOG, the Cubs faced Haiti, a team that only confirmed its participation 6 weeks before the start of YOG. Alas, the pressure and expectations proved too much a burden for those young shoulders to bear and the Cubs crashed to a 2-0 defeat in front of a sell-out crowd to a determined Haiti side.

Day 7 of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games saw the crowning of the fastest girls and fastest boys in the century sprint. So who were the teens “speed devils”?
Josephine Omaka of Nigeria won the Girls’ 100m in 11.58sec

Odane Skeen of Jamaica won the Boys’ 100m in 10.42sec to become the sprint king of the YOG. Are we seeing another lightning (usain) bolt in the making?
