The Genting outdoor theme park was one of the must-visit place during our family vacation in Genting Highlands and we did just that on the second day of our trip. This outdoor amusement park consists of children rides, family rides and thrill rides, making a total of 28 rides.
Let’s revisit some of the rides with the photos I took inside the theme park, and don’t forget to enjoy the video at the end of this post.
Two of the Family Rides – Carousel and Flying Jumbo – are very popular with the kids.
Here’s an ariel view (taken from inside the ferries wheels ride) of the lake inside the theme park where the boating rides take place.
The intense thrill rides are definitely not for the faint-hearted. Despite that, they were very popular and unsurprising, a long wait is guaranteed if one wants to take the rides. Here we see three of them, Spinner, Space Shot, and Corkscrew (roller coaster).
The Spinner is a whirlwind adventure ride that oscillates and tilts and take you to breadthtaking new heights and the spin of your life!
The Space Shot lifts 12 thrill-seekers 185 feet into the air and hurl them towards earth at speed of 67kmh!
Over the Halloween weekend, we were at the Marina Bay Sands – Singapore’s second Integrated Resort which opened in 2010 – for a staycation. The highlight of this one night weekend-stay had to be swimming in the infinity pool which was located on the 57th storey, right on the rooftop of the hotel! Visitors and swimmers were treated to the spectacular view of the Marina Bay skyline. Coming a close second in terms of highlights would be the view from the observation deck of the SkyPark, it was postcard perfect to say the least.
Without further ado, let me show you some photos and a couple of videos of the views I shot on the SkyPark of the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
The depth of the infinity pool is only chest-deep, but it is long. At 150 meters, the infinity swimming pool is the world’s largest outdoor pool at that height. It is open only to hotel guests.
After a very fun family time and a priceless experience swimming in the infinity pool, we changed and headed over to the observation deck of the SkyPark. The view of the Marina Bay district from the SkyPark was absolutely mind-blowing!
The kite festival is back for the second year running, with kite flying days on 18 and 19 September at The Promontory @ Marina Bay. The Singapore Kite Festival is a large-scale weekend extravaganza of activities centred on kite making and kite flying with enhanced performances from musicians, dancers, puppeteers and magicians; kite making workshops; and exciting performances by ten international kitemasters from Thailand, Switzerland, Japan, Malaysia and the U.S – eight more than last year.
I wanted to introduce my children to this fun outdoor activity of kite flying and the whole family was there to soak in the festive atmosphere, and of course, brought along our own kites to fly! Here’s a look at the event through my lenses:
After travelling through five cities in five different continents, the Youth Olympic Flame finally arrived the host city Singapore on 6 August for a 6-day traditional torch relay run. Due to work commitments, I was unable to make time to catch the torch relay in person as the flame winds through the streets of Singapore, through all the five community districts, until Day-6 when I chanced upon the relay in the heart of Orchard Road.
Here’s a short video of the torch relay which I managed to filmed amidst the chaos in front of 313@Somerset.
The Flame’s journey will culminate in the torch being brought to the Float @Marina Bay in Singapore on 14 August 2010, where it will ignite the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games cauldron as part of the Opening Ceremony, signifying the start of the Games, and will continue to burn brightly throughout the 12 days of the Games until the Closing Ceremony on 26 August 2010.
It has been more than 2 years since Singapore was picked over Moscow to host the first ever Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010! The YOG countdown started one year back, and we are now down to the last couple of weeks to the start of the event!
The Land Transport Authority has designated a special Youth Olympic Lane with prominent road markings consisting of the five Olympics rings and the word “Give Way” painted on certain roads between the Olympic Village and competition venues.
