The family went on a mini farm-hopping tour on Labour Day holiday. The children had a great time feeding the animals and catching long-kang fishes despite the baking-hot weather, and the adults relived some nostalgic moments walking down memory lane of our own childhood. No, there were no pigs in these farms, if you really need to know.
The first stop found us at The Animal Resort located at Seletar Farmway 5. It was a relatively laid back kind of place and visitors are free to roam around to see, touch or feed some of the animals through their enclosures.
The Animal Resort is not a huge place and so the visit was all but over soon. Then we made an impromptu decision to head over to Pasir Ris Farmway and visit the many farms located there. We ended up at the Kid’s Kampong.
The main attraction at the Kid’s Kampong was the “long-kang” (drain) fishing. Both adults and children, local and foreigners had tons of fun trying to catch guppies with a small net.
Besides the main draw, there are also feeding stations for goose, rabbits, tortise, and a small pond full of koi.
As always, a video of the outing was shot, produced and embed here to bring you closer to the actions and let you experience the sights and sounds of the event in the comfort of your living room. Enjoy!
Whether you are a frequent flyer or frequent non-flyer, air travel can be a real pain in the butt, what with all the extra (but necessary) airport security checks post 9-11. After all the hassles one got through in the airport and finally boards the plane, the last thing one needs is to be subjected to the repetitive flight safety procedures the flight attendants or the on-board videos churn out.
But if every in-flight announcements can be so witty and interactive as the video shown, air travel would be so much more enjoyable. That’s the kind of in-flight entertainment I’m talking about. Wave you hands in the air like you just don’t care…
Congratulations America! You made history and proved that change can happen and give hope to those of us in the forgotten corners of the world.
To those – to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.
On a glorious November Sunday morning, I was among more than 20,000 fun walkers to “walk on water” and became one of the first to visit the magnificent Barrage and reservoir at Marina Bay. No, this is not some kind of mass cult ritual where we inherit evil supernatural power and threaten to take over the world. Far from it.
It is actually a fun mass-walking event, which was dubbed “Big Walk on Water”, which also marks the 20th anniversary of The New Paper, offered participants a chance to “walk on water” by crossing the dam across the Marina Channel. The views along the 5km scenic route are breathtaking – the fresh water bay, the cityscape, Esplanade, iconic hotels, Singapore Flyer, golf course, and of course, the world-class Marina Barrage.
Well, I’ve always subscribe to the idea that a picture is worth a thousand words. So join me as I retraced my journey of my “walk on water” through some photos and video of this historical event.
