The Week In Review (04/11 - 10/11)

Hello folks, it’s that time of the week again for the latest edition of the weekly review of the happenings in the blogosphere.

Following the stellar performance of an earlier post Blog Reading Pet Peeves, which received massive traffic from StumbleUpon, 2 of my new posts the past week got hit again by the SU train!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

First, Office Pet Peeves Freakout, which was posted on 6th November received 200+ visitors and pageviews from StumbleUpon within 24 hours of posting.

The next StumbleUpon Express brought with it over 500 visitors and nearly 600 pageviews on 8th November within 24 hours of What’s In Your Success Toolbox? being published.

This is unprecedented and is like an early Christmas gift for the blog. I better get use to such online traffic jam and make it a habit to keep the bandwidth fully congested!

  • Being a relatively new blogger himself, Eric Socia understands how frustrating and confusing it can be to get started as there are so many things to learn, so many other blogs to learn from, so many services to sign up for that can help immensely when you’re beginning. Eric has compiled a list of must-read articles and posts from around the sphere that he had found useful, or believes would be useful to others that are trying to get their blogs up and running. Ericwas kind enough to include one of my post The 5Es of Essential Blogging in the list of useful articles.

  • A box is a box is a box is a box! OK, to elaborate further, a box is an item where things are stored. But things are a little different when you own a box on 1000boxs dot com. When you own a box on 1000boxs.com it will contain what you want and you alone. A box on 1000boxs.com provides you with a title, text and links to your website. 1000boxs.com is a new take on advertising, where the site owner Marius Akselsen from Norway intend to promote sites he personally like and to offer advertising by selling 1000 boxes at $100 each, with resale rights. Here’s the good news, the first 100 boxes are free! All you have to do is contact Marius to request for your free box.
  • Leaving comments on blog posts is part of the overall blogging experience as it is how you interact with other bloggers and people around the world that share a similar interest. Having seen an innocent comment left on a post degenerate into a pissing match between bloggers, Eilliot of ejcross dot com had put together 5 tips to leaving good comments for your benefit.

  • Everyone knows you’ll never receive something if you don’t ask for what you want. Brook Durant of A Blog About Nothing had issued a call to action to his readers to subscribe to his RSS feed. There are lots of ways to get more RSS subscribers, but in the end it all comes down to bringing it to their attention and asking for what you want. Sounds like a reasonable argument and I need RSS subscribers too!

OK folks, that’s a wrap for this weekly reviews, see you next week. Until then take care!

Such hike can be additive and being hit by the Digg Juggernaut remains an illusion for me.
